Chronic Fatigue Counseling
Being exhausted all the time is exhausting! Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a devastating diagnosis that changes your life. Even if you don't have ME/CFS and experience fatigue as a symptom of another pain or illness diagnosis, experiencing fatigue in any form is life-altering. When you struggle to do the simplest things it’s easy to watch the world go on around you and find yourself struggling with your mental health. The brain can be a wonderful force for good or chaos in your life, and we want to make sure your brain gives you every advantage. Let us help you, listen to your unique struggles, support you in processing your story, and create a personalized plan to help you start to live beyond your pain.
What makes chronic fatigue counseling so specialized? In the hustle culture that America seems to idolize it’s often “cool” to be tired all the time. But when you are clinically and medically fatigued, it’s nothing to be envied. When you wake up, just as tired as when you went to bed, that doesn’t just weigh on you physically, it’s exhausting mentally too.
At Chronic Hope Counseling, our counselors understand that while ME/CFS can be an independent diagnosis, fatigue is often a comorbidity of another chronic illness, feel free to read our chronic illness counseling page to learn more about how we address chronic illnesses.
ME/CFS is a unique challenge that deserves specialized treatment. At Chronic Hope Counseling all counselors have personal experience with chronic pain, illness, and fatigue to foster a true sense of empathy and understanding, as well as the latest training to make them the most effective counselors for you. They will help you learn how to pace, analyze and process your emotions, and start with you on your journey towards owning your story and emotionally healing from your turmoil.
What is Chronic Fatigue Counseling?
Pacing and Self-Care
When struggling with chronic fatigue learning how to pace and take care of yourself is essential. Pacing is often easier said than done. When you see the people around you doing what they want without having to take their energy into consideration, sometimes it can appear easier to push your body too. But unfortunately, that’s not how our bodies work, so learning pacing and self-care is absolutely necessary.
Self-care is important for everyone, but when you’re struggling with fatigue it becomes essential. Mental and physical selfcare are separate categories and both need equal attention and consideration.
We can help you learn to listen to your body, learn your early warning signs and work with your body so you can save up and reserve your energy for what is important in your life.
