Cierra Watkins

Cierra Watkins is a counseling intern at Chronic Hope Counseling, bringing over 11 years of experience in education and mental health services. She is deeply committed to providing support to individuals navigating the complexities of health and social systems, a commitment influenced by her father's struggle with multiple chronic health concerns and challenges in advocating for proper care and fair treatment. This experience inspired Cierra to dedicate her career to assisting others in similar situations.

With a bachelor's degree in social work, she has advocated for adults with mental and physical health challenges in adult protective services and supported adolescents with behavioral challenges as a mental health professional. Currently pursuing her Master of Social Work degree at Louisiana State University, Cierra continues to bolster her passion for helping others within the healthcare and mental health fields

Amber Funderburk

Amber Funderburk is a counseling intern pursuing a Master of Social Work at North Carolina State University. Amber is passionate about providing a safe space that allows clients to truly be themselves. As a neurodivergent person, Amber knows how exhausting it is to walk through life feeling as if everyone has the same manual but you. Alienation, isolation, and a constant worry of misunderstanding impact our health in insidious, often invisible ways.

Alongside navigating the world through a neurodivergent lens, Amber is impacted by Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder and a chronic mystery gut condition that they are still investigating as spoons allow. They know the frustration of seeking care and hitting wall after wall, whether that’s due to inattentive/harmful medical professionals, a lack of financial resources, or the worry that ‘it’s all in your head.’ Amber strives to create space to authentically be, without performance or worry of judgment. Whatever it is that you are struggling with, they believe you, and they can’t wait to hear your story.
