Child and Teen Counselor

Kathy Caputo MA, LCMHCA

Thank you for making the hard first step of looking for a therapist.  I hope the information you see here will help you make the best decision for yourself.  While I connect with individuals at any age, I specialize in treating children ages four through eighteen. I believe that therapy should be a safe place and children’s voices and concerns are worth hearing.  I strive to create a welcoming and non-judgmental space for my clients to learn and grow.  We are partners in the therapeutic process.

I have had a disability my entire life and I believe this gives me an understanding that most people don't have of what it is like to be different.  I became a therapist so everyone who felt out of place or that they didn't fit what society expected would have a person to talk to.

I have the world's best service dog named Olive.  She may be my service dog, but Olive's happiness and cuddles can help anyone feel at ease.

I use art, play, animal assisted, CBT, and narrative interventions to facilitate exploration and processing of emotions. My areas of concentration are behavioral concerns, grief, anxiety, depression, and working with those who live with chronic pain/illness, identify as disabled or differently abled.

I have a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University and a Masters in Psychology from the University of Phoenix.
